Sisters Molly & Meg Svec co-own Spilt Milk, which started as a small bakery in 2014 operating out of a commissary kitchen in Chicago.
When we first began, we baked overnight, and sold our pastries and treats at the Pilsen Farmer’s Market. We also baked for events and weddings, growing slowly but surely, and always cooking with love.
By 2016, we were ready for a kitchen of our own…so we signed a lease and opened the doors to our first shop in October, 2016.
We love cooking and baking, and take great pride in sharing our food with all of you! But most of all, we do this for love of our community. Oak Park has welcomed us like family, and we are proud to be part of such a vibrant neighborhood here in the Hemingway District.
Molly has a professional background in culinary arts, having worked in various prominent pastry kitchens here in Chicago, as well as on the East coast. She takes pride in baking traditional recipes for Spilt Milk, like you might remember from your childhood! Our menu is influenced by recipes we enjoyed baking with our family growing up, as well as the cultures and traditions of our friends and family we have grown to love over the years.
Our specialty at Spilt Milk is pie - a traditionally humble dessert! Our absolute favorite flavors are Heirloom Apple Pie and Key Lime Pie, but we have LOTS of amazing recipes in rotation, and are always thinking up fun new flavor combos to share with you.
We hope you’ll stop by and give us a try. Nothing brings us more joy than sharing our pastries with new friends!
